Since 2019 More Than A Roof Foundation has been supporting vulnerable youth in our communities to overcome barriers to completing their High School education.
These students have put in the hard work, stayed committed to their education, and are now stepping into higher education and the work force. At More Than a Roof, our mission to break the cycles of poverty and homelessness, would not be possible without your support, and education is a huge part of that journey.
Our graduates are an inspiring group, each with unique talents and dreams:
- Aland loves creating videos and graphics and dreams of starting his own clothing line.
- Farhiya is passionate about sports, especially badminton and basketball.
- Miles is into music—whether it is playing, listening, or writing—and he hopes to make a career out of composing.
- Yar is focused on global policy and international relations, with aspirations to work on the world stage.
- Eric is training as a plumber and enjoys playing musical instruments.
- Awash is studying at SFU and switching from psychology to health sciences, while also indulging in books and science.
- One of our graduates recently won a gold medal in the Paris Olympics. Learn more here: https://olympic.ca/team-canada/camryn-rogers/
These students have overcome so much—many have transitioned from different countries and adapted to new challenges along the way. Their perseverance is nothing short of inspiring.
While back to school is on everyone’s mind right now, we want to take time to celebrate this past year’s achievements with this years’ scholarship group.
A Special Thanks to Alison Setton
We also want to recognize Alison Setton, who has been a true champion for our students and their families. Alison has generously volunteered her time to teach financial literacy, helping our students and their parents gain the knowledge they need to manage their money wisely. Her lessons have made a lasting impact, giving our graduates a solid foundation as they step into their futures.
As we celebrate these milestones, we’re reminded of how important it is to dream big, work hard, and give back. These values will guide our graduates as they pursue their dreams.
