About Us

At More Than a Roof Foundation, we specialize in building opportunities for More Than a Roof residents to leverage their housing stability, to make significant changes in their health, education and community.

Our initiatives are powered by generous donors doing more to break cycles of poverty and homelessness in British Columbia.

Together we are helping More Than a Roof residents build hopeful futures.

  • We strive to identify with the hurts, sorrows and suffering of others and walk alongside them through the challenges they face.
  • Dignity
  • We believe that all people are worthy to be seen, listened to, understood and treated fairly.

Our History

More Than a Roof Housing was founded in 1984 as Mennonite Central Committee (BC) Social Housing Society. For decades, the society served as a Christian housing organization offering affordable housing in Vancouver and across BC.

Since 2003, More Than a Roof Housing Society has been an independent, registered BC non-profit housing society. Today, it provides affordable housing for low-income families, seniors and individuals. Through its faith-based housing support, the Society provides hope and healing to over 2,400 people in 15 locations throughout British Columbia.

In 2005, More Than a Roof Foundation was established to inspire hopeful and generous British Columbians to participate in the vital work of More Than a Roof Society. Through affordable, supportive housing in BC, we are breaking cycles of poverty and homelessness.
