Nick’s Strong Foundation

Nick Chapman-Jones is a father, community leader and counsellor in-training.

Nick is the Director of Programs at Whole Way House, a Vancouver-based community organization that serves over 1,000 seniors and veterans. Every day, he helps deliver food and support services that foster worth and belonging for people who are often forgotten and alone.

As one Whole Way House’s longest serving employees, Nick has played a key role in the organization’s growth. Today, Nick and his team serve people in 11 different community residences across the Lower Mainland, supporting seniors to stay healthy, independent and connected to their community.

Nick’s passion for community can be traced back to his childhood where he grew up at More Than a Roof’s Dockside Village in Steveston. He remembers kids playing outside together, families sharing meals and the safe, welcoming space that the courtyard in between homes was.

Finances were always tight at home, and Nick recognizes that his family of five may have struggled more without the support of the More than a Roof.

He is grateful for the stability and community that his family found at Dockside. His parents lived there until his youngest brother graduated from high school. When they moved out, they made space for the next generation of parents to raise their children in a safe and stable family home, giving them the same strong foundation that he received.

Today, Nick is busier than ever as he balances work, family and school. At home, he enjoys life with his wife, Donna, and their 18-month-old son, Mackenzie. He’s also pursuing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University, with hopes of making mental health support more accessible to men.

Nick’s colleague, the Co-Founder of Whole Way House, Jenny Konkin, described Nick best when she shared, “Nick has a very strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances. He is innovative, creative and thoughtful about how we can be most effective as an organization. As a leader he takes care of his team, and they trust him because has integrity and he always puts people first.”

In 2025, Nick was awarded MTR Foundation’s Distinguished Alumni Award. We are proud of Nick as he embodies the values he grew up with: reducing isolation, encouraging joy and building community.
